Hey there storyteller!
Today is the official first day of fall! To celebrate, I’m looking back at some of the chalk drawings I did this summer.
Chalk drawing has been something that I enjoyed, but I really got ‘into’ it this summer.
This ^^^ is the first one I did, back in April. The two cloud cities are being united by a rainbow bridge.
These butterflies are some of my favorites. I really enjoyed playing with the colors.
Notice how the top part of the flower is on a lighter sidewalk than the bottom. There is a section of our drive that is smoother than the rest. I usually try to have most of my chalk drawings on that part so my chalk lasts longer.
Sidewalk chalk is called sidewalk chalk for a reason! Most of the time I use the driveway because there is more space (I’m also less likely to get in the way of the mail people) but I do like being able to line everything up on the sidewalk. And contained space isn’t always a bad thing.
This one used up all of my yellow and blue chalk.
These two I made using tape. I saw some pictures like them on Pinterest and wanted to try it myself.
These were also inspired by Pinterest.
These, I made using stencils. I started out with a stencil shaped like a piece of pizza and a panda face stencil. Then, I expanded using my own imagination.
This is my favorite scene from the Little Mermaid. It is so iconic.
It’s Clifford and his friend. I don’t remember what her name is. Does she even have a name . . . ?
Animals are some of my favorite things to draw – on paper or sidewalk.
This giraffe was the first thing I drew with my new Crayola chalk.
I made this yesterday afternoon after I found out that the baby orangutan at the Smithsonian Zoo was turning four.
Thanks for reading, friend! Do you chalk? Would you like to see more posts like this? Please let me know in the comments below. I love hearing from you.
Yours,
Elizabeth Anne
