Dear Reader,
Hello and happy Monday!
One of my absolute favorite places to draw or write is in the chairs at the top of the hill in my backyard. The quiet air and nature all around me create an environment that cultivates my creativity.
Often, on the way up the hill, I’ll find my inspiration for my art.
On one such trip, recently, I found a bright yellow dandelion in the middle of the field. I just had to pluck it up and take it with me the rest of the way.
Dandelions have fascinated me ever since I can remember. I have many memories growing up of picking them out of the dirt and tying them into mini bouquets.
Dandelions are a splash of joyful color in a field of same-old-same-old green grass; delicate treasure; rays of sunshine; and as I was disappointed to find out a few years ago – actually weeds.
Yep; my favorite flower is a weed.
The silver lining to this disappointing discovery is a two-fold analogy. (Okay, it might not seem like a silver lining, but trust me, to this analogy obsessed girl, it is!)
Either dandelions are a sign that God takes care of all of his creation – even the weeds – and that beauty can be found everywhere . . .
. . . or just a lesson to beware of weedlike personalities dressed up as flowers.
I choose the former.
Thanks for reading, friend!
Yours,
Elizabeth Anne
