Summary:
Patty is a middle school age girl who runs for her mom, her sister, for herself, and in honor of her dad. This book covers a very eventful week of her life. From a track meet to taking care of her sister, Maddy, Patina’s life is anything but boring. And she ain’t no junk.
Review:
Patina is written in a raw first person and the characters use natural dialogue that makes the story seem real. I love Patty’s confidence in herself and her strength in tough situations. The characters in Patina are unique and interesting with a varied range of personalities.
However, there was no real ending to the story and it felt very unfinished. This might have something to do with the fact that it is the second book in a series, but none of the events seemed to be dependent on another book.
Favorite Quote: ‘My name is Patina Jones. And I ain’t no junk.’
My Rating: 3/5 stars
