At the beginning of June, I said that I had just finished editing Act One. Shortly after that, I decided to change the tense and person from the past-third person to the present-first person.
During the process, I noticed a big plot hole in Hal’s backstory, which took a few weeks to fix. Of course, having an international move didn’t help either.
But, long story short, I finished it yesterday, just in time!
Now I just have one month before school starts and the rest of the book to revise. Luckily, we aren’t very busy since we can’t drive anywhere (no car!), and I have plenty of time to work on it.
Some things that have helped me while editing is word wars and sprints. Even if I can’t find anyone on the Nano forums to word war with, setting a timer for 10-20 minutes always gives me a little extra motivation.
Music has also helped me a lot. I enjoy listening to my Dragon Tamer playlist while I write because the songs help me to channel the character’s emotions. And the Eurovision 2021 soundtrack, of course.
